by Brianna Crandall — September 4, 2015—The nonprofit International Cleaning and Restoration Association (ICRA) has announced that it is going to be offering written exams after classroom training programs. This move is part of a Comprehensive Certification Program that includes three major components: Basic Skills, Cognitive Assessments (written exams) and Performance Assessments.
In response to the industry’s desire to have an option for certification, the new Comprehensive Certification Program is the next logical advancement in that process, says ICRA. Industry leaders from around the country have been working on bringing this program to the market for many months.
The written exam part of the new program is very much like other classroom educational programs followed by a written exam, explains ICRA. Thirty-two schools have already registered to begin teaching courses that lead to ICRA certification. The organization offers a full list of registered schools and instructors on its Web site.
Those individuals who already possess a certification from one of these certifying bodies can have their certifications recognized (“grandfathered in”) without the need for another course or exam. Those with certifications can go to the ICRA Web site and complete a form, upload a copy of their certificate or identity (ID) card, and pay a flat fee of $40 no matter how many certifications they have. To have certifications recognized by ICRA as part of the Certification Recognition Program, fill out the application online.
