by Shane Henson — September 18, 2013—IDS Group, a North American distributor of interior design systems for commercial and residential interiors, recently announced the availability of foamed polystyrene ceiling tiles.

According to the company, these tiles are made with foamed polystyrene, specially designed for ceiling industry, and produced in the United States. They are class A fire rated, NRC value-0.25, R value-3.5, and 100 percent recyclable once recycled used as roofing insulation material.

The tiles are available in five categories to fit any design objective: standard commercial ceilings, clean room ceilings, decorative ceilings, coffered ceilings, and 3D wavy ceilings.

In addition, IDS Group says these tiles have a huge package of benefits they bring to the market:

  • Whiter than common tiles, therefore reflect more light and look cleaner
  • Highly thermo efficient—save money on heating and air-conditioning
  • Designed to comply with all fire rating requirements for commercial and residential interiors
  • Improve acoustics of interior spaces
  • Do not warp or sag with time
  • Easier, faster and cleaner to install than fiberboard tiles
  • Can be used for interior and exterior applications
  • Ideal for environments with humidity and moisture
  • Do not create yellow and brown stains due to water leaks
  • All tiles designed to fit into standard 15/16″ ceiling grid or be glued up
  • More economical; on average 30 percent less expensive than similar tiles
  • Designed to outlast other ceiling tiles, with a life expectancy of more than 10 years

Polystyrene ceiling tiles are successfully used in restaurants, retail stores, hotels, fitness centers, offices, airports and private homes, the company says, and can help building owners achieve a desired look in a cost effective manner.
