by Shane Henson — June 27, 2014—Facilities managers throughout the world are urged to make travel plans now to attend the International Facility Management Association’s (IFMA) flagship event, the World Workplace Conference and Expo, slated for September 17—19 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
IFMA says it has made exciting updates to the program to further address attendees’ professional and personal goals. This year’s theme is “FM + Strategy x Innovation = Your Formula for Success,” and IFMA expects an even larger turnout that last year’s successful event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
During the conference, FMs will be able to learn from renowned keynote speakers, including opening speaker Peter Sheahan, founder and CEO of ChangeLabs, and author of Flip: How to Turn Everything You Know on Its Head—and Succeed Beyond Your Wildest Imaginings and Making It Happen: Turning Good Ideas Into Great Results. In addition, three speakers will offer closing keynotes modeled after TED talks.
Of course, the conference and expo also features an abundance of education sessions. In addition, to facilitate the unique educational needs of individual attendees, this year, World Workplace will offer four Learning Labs. The focus of the Learning Labs include C-suite conversations, needs and expectations; visionary FM concepts and practices; soft skills for those who want to perfect their management style; and best practices from world-class organizations and individuals. Three master classes will also be offered, which cover emergency preparedness, leadership and strategy, and workplace innovation, IFMA says.
When not participating in the many sessions offered, conference attendees can make their way to the expo floor. There, attendees will have the opportunity to explore cutting-edge products and services demonstrated by exhibiting companies representing business sectors such as alternative energy, architecture, building maintenance, disaster recovery, education, food services, furniture, health care, real estate, security, technology and more. In addition, attendees can take advantage of FM-centered facility tours. Tour options include the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans Lakefront Airport, New Orleans BioInnovation Center, and the Louisiana Cancer Research Center.
