Two issues of the journal are scheduled for 2010 publications, with the next issue expected in September. Plans include an expanded publication schedule starting in 2011.
An open source, Internet-accessible journal devoted to the science, technology and practice of facilities management, the new journal is designed for both academics and professionals. Through research and practice papers, the journal enables the sharing of new theories, research, experience and best practices for building and workplace strategy, design, management, operations, use and disposition.
The publication’s global focus is expected to attract contributions from around the world, bringing new insights to the evolving field of facilities management for improvement and increased professionalism. The expansion of FM into emerging economies opens new opportunities for global exchange. The inaugural issue contains papers related to performance-based facilities management, benefits and risks of sustainable building, engaging a multi-generational workforce, and issues related to the concept of a Chief Facility Executive.
The journal is supported by the Georgia Institute of Technology Library and Information Center on the Open Journal Systems/Public Knowledge Project software system and is sponsored by International Facility Management Association (IFMA), the IFMA Foundation, European Facilities Management Network (EuroFM), Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI) and Facility Management Association New Zealand (FMANZ).
