by Brianna Crandall — July 19, 2013—The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) has just announced that World Workplace 2013, billed as the most longstanding, well-respected learning and networking event for facilities management and related professions, will be held October 2-4 this year in the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
IFMA defines facilities management as a profession that encompasses multiple disciplines to ensure functionality of the built environment by integrating people, place, process and technology. Around the world, the role of the facilities manager has risen to new levels of importance as the built environment has grown more sophisticated. The modern FM is directly involved with everything from sustainability to security, from worker productivity to asset management, from disaster preparation and recovery to the execution of day-to-day operations.
IFMA notes that organizations of all types and sizes are making capital investments in their facilities to achieve critical organizational goals, and says that it is growing evident that to achieve desired results takes more than a state-of-the-art facility — it takes effective facilities management.
For more than 30 years, IFMA’s World Workplace has been leading groundbreaking discussions on the management of facilities, FM teams and workplace projects. Held annually, World Workplace addresses topics of the greatest relevance and concern to professionals who support the built environment.
Titled “Leading FM: Advance Business, Get Results.” for 2013, the 34th annual event is expected to draw more than 4,000 attendees from 40 countries representing all aspects of the work environment—FM and property management, real estate, engineering, architecture and design, security and more. Concurrent sessions will address cutting-edge issues and trends as well as proven techniques and best practices, and the comprehensive exposition will provide hundreds of the latest products and solutions for every facet of the built environment.
IFMA is the world’s largest and most widely recognized international association for FM professionals, supporting more than 23,000 members in 85 countries. The association’s members, represented in 130 chapters and 17 councils worldwide, manage more than 37 billion square feet of property and annually purchase more than U.S.$100 billion in products and services. Formed in 1980, IFMA certifies professionals in facilities management, conducts research, provides educational programs, and produces World Workplace.
FMLink is a Participating Partner of World Workplace.
