by Brianna Crandall — May 27, 2015—The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) recently announced the winners of the 19th Annual IIDA/HD Product Design Competition, presented in partnership with Hospitality Design magazine.
Of interest to health-care facilities managers who are looking to source top-quality furniture, lighting and more, this competition—open to exhibitors at HD Expo 2015—honors innovation, functionality and aesthetic advancements in the hospitality industry. Awards in 14 categories were presented, in addition to the Eric Engstrom Best of Competition Award.
“This year’s winning products of the IIDA/HD Product Design Competition at HD Expo 2015 showcased the very best of the best in not only design but in innovation and utility, as well,” IIDA President-Elect Scott Hierlinger, IIDA, LEED AP, said. “The hospitality industry is ever-changing and evolving, and these products were cutting-edge, environmentally responsible, and had enormous benefits to both the user and the client.”
The panel was particularly impressed by this year’s Eric Engstrom Best of Competition Award winner, Stone Source’s Fossil. “We loved the crowdsourced roots and handcrafted quality of the design,” said Hierlinger. “The inherent simplicity and affordability made this product compelling.”
