by Shane Henson — July 11, 2012—Independence LED, a U.S. manufacturer of high-efficiency linear LED lighting, recently sold more than $350,000 worth of energy-efficient light-emitting diode (LED) products to Urban Health Plan (UHP), a network of federally qualified community health centers.
According to Independence LED, the products will be used within the 54,000 square feet of building space being added onto UHP’s main site in Bronx, New York, and use half as much wattage as a typical fluorescent tube, which will result in deep energy savings for the organization.
“We applaud the leadership of UHP and the development support team,” said Charlie Szoradi, CEO if Independence LED. “We see this work as a model for other medical centers, hospitals and clinics that often have much of their facility illuminated 24/7.”
