September 17, 2001—INOVx Solutions, a provider of advanced visualization tools for plant documentation and information management, has released version 2.2 of the RealityLINx and 3D PlantLINx modeling software. Among the highlights of the new version is the ability to automatically generate 3D surface models from laser scanning 3D clouds of points. The 3D surface model can be imported into various CAD design systems such as MicroStation and can be used to detect clashes between the model and existing facility structures.
Additionally, this feature streamlines and reduces the work-intensive process required to create 3D model of complex facilities, and in turn reduces the overall cost of capturing and creating 3D models of existing facilities, the company says.
