Integrated Environmental Solutions offers universities free license to cutting-edge architectural software

by Shane Henson — August 12, 2011—Facilities managers working at colleges and universities across the globe can assist architectural and sustainable design instructors in getting free access to VE-Gaia software, offered by Integrated Environmental Solutions, which is increasingly utilized as a tool for various types of analysis in the early stages of architectural projects.

Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES), a provider of integrated performance analysis software and consulting services for sustainable building design, has announced it will provide colleges and universities worldwide with free academic licenses for VE-Gaia, a tool for early stage architectural analysis.

VE-Gaia features an easy-to-use workflow system that guides users step-by-step through undertaking model setup, assigning data, iterating workflows, filtering results, and producing automated visual and rich-text reports. It can be used to gain bio-climatic understanding, create a solar shading movie, benchmark energy/carbon, assess the potential of low/zero carbon and renewable technologies, determine daylight performance, explore sustainable material options, and much more.

IES officials say any institution offering architectural or sustainable design courses will find this tool invaluable in assisting student learning across this rapidly growing area, and will ensure young designers are acquainted with the tools increasingly required by potential employers.

There is no constraint on the number of licenses provided for free.
