by Brianna Crandall — November 3, 2010—Building services and facilities management provider Inviron has been working with international engineering and construction group Costain to upgrade security at Manchester Airport in the U.K.
The recently completed project, undertaken to improve airside access to the western area of the airfield for vehicles and staff, involved the re-siting of the security lodge and fitting a new barrier system.
Inviron installed a number of maintenance and engineering services including emergency and general lighting, power supplies, CCTV, fire alarms, air conditioning, domestic water systems and new toilets.
Both Inviron and Costain mentioned the challenges involved in an airport project, citing the planning required to ensure minimal disruption to airport operations while making sure that security is not compromised at any time and that the work is carried out to exacting standards.
