by Shane Henson — December 20, 2013—Global facilities services provider ISS announced earlier this week that it has been chosen by Delta Airlines to provide integrated facilities services (IFS) for two of the key airports the global airlines operates within the northeastern United States.
As part of the new partnership, ISS will be responsible for the delivery and management of integrated facilities services to the Delta terminals within John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York City, and Newark International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey.
JFK serves as the primary gateway to the United States, welcoming more than 13 million inbound international passengers in 2012. Delta Airlines carries about 2.1 million of those arriving international passengers, more than any other airline, says ISS.
The Delta JFK facilities consist of Terminal 2 and the newly renovated Terminal 4 that just completed a $1.2 billion extension, which included the addition of a new Sky Club with 24,000 square feet and outdoor observation deck. The Delta Newark International Airport facilities consist of Terminal B Delta-Occupied areas.
ISS will provide technical services including baggage handling systems and passenger boarding bridge maintenance, cleaning, waste management, and other related services as part of the new contract.
Among other airports serviced by ISS in the United States are Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Denver International Airport, and Salt Lake City International Airport.
