ISS expands outsourcing partnerships with Novartis, PostNord

by Brianna Crandall — March 21, 2016—Global facilities services provider ISS expanded outsourcing contracts with global pharmaceutical company Novartis and leading Nordics logistics company PostNord in several countries across Europe in recent weeks, as highlighted below.

Novartis: Europe

ISS agreed with global pharmaceutical company Novartis to significantly expand their partnership to cover all Novartis sites across 24 countries in Europe. The contract was extended to run for an additional two years until 2019, and the contract scope in existing countries was expanded.

ISS and Novartis significantly expanded their partnership to cover all Novartis sites across 24 countries in Europe, with ISS providing a full Integrated Facility Services (IFS) solution.

Transition is in progress in a number of countries, and once the expanded contract is fully mobilized during the first half of 2016, the number of employees servicing Novartis will increase from approximately 1,200 to more than 1,500.

ISS started servicing Novartis in 2012, and expanded the contract scope in 2013, in 2014, and again in 2015. ISS provides the pharmaceutical company with a full Integrated Facility Services (IFS) solution, including food services (catering), cleaning, reception services, grounds maintenance, technical services, site security, space planning and project management.

PostNord: Nordic countries

In addition, ISS and PostNord, a leading logistics company in the Nordics, will significantly expand their partnership, in place since 2000, almost tripling the size of the current contract to approximately SEK 450 million annually.

ISS will deliver cleaning, property, catering, product and support services, security as well as waste management for PostNord across Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Under the new contract, ISS will deliver all facility services to PostNord across the Nordic countries in an Integrated Facility Services solution. ISS will employ approximately 400 employees, and will deliver cleaning, property, catering, product and support services, security as well as waste management across Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

The geographic reach of ISS, the ability to deliver solutions for complex demands, and the combination of quality and costs were said to be important elements when PostNord chose ISS as its future facility services partner. The contract is designed to give PostNord the ability to focus on its core business, delivering mail, packages, and logistics solutions to customers.

With the expanded and extended partnership, PostNord will reduce the number of facility service subcontractors for the company across the Nordic countries from approximately 1,000 to one main partner, ISS. Beginning April 1, 2016, the new contract will run for three years (until the end of 2018), with a possible further two-year extension.
