ISS lands janitorial contract for 47 buildings in Danish municipality

by Shane Henson — February 27, 2013—The Denmark branch of global facilities management company ISS has been awarded a contract to clean 47 institutions and administration buildings for the Danish Municipality of Hørsholm.

The Municipality of Hørsholm, Denmark, has 24,500 inhabitants and places emphasis on a green and good economic operation of its municipal facilities, even winning a Danish Facilities Management award six months ago for the way it runs its buildings. The municipality chose ISS to take care of the cleaning in all municipal facilities going forward knowing that the company would take steps to ensure environmentally friendly products and processes are used while servicing the buildings.

As the director of cleaning in ISS Denmark notes, the company was a good fit for Hørsholm because to ISS, cleaning is not just about everything being clean.

“It is also important to think about the environment. Therefore, we use environmentally friendly and Swan-labeled [Danish environmental label] cleaning products,” explained Henry Bjerke of ISS. “At the same time, we limit the amount of water used and reduce the use of detergents—of course without compromising the quality. It is common sense, and we know that this is exactly what many of our public sector customers demand.”
