by Shane Henson — June 20, 2014—ISS, a global provider of facilities services, recently announced that it will be taking over infrastructure and technical facilities management for Swisscom, Switzerland’s leading telecom provider.
According to ISS, the telecom provider’s overall portfolio comprises approximately 90 office buildings and 1,000 operational buildings, with a total area of around 1.2 million square meters. With a view to strengthening its own expertise in the information and communications technology industry segment, ISS Switzerland will take on the 220 operational staff from this area, who currently work for Swisscom or its previous provider.
The contract award further strengthens ISS’s position as a market leader in integrated facility services within Switzerland. ISS says it was able to convince the panel of judges in a multi-stage selection process with its clear strategy, skilled management, and clear process-based approach.
“With ISS Switzerland, we are convinced that we have chosen a highly professional provider that will be able to rely on extensive experience in the global ICT business. By awarding the mandate to this established provider in the Swiss market, we are also ensuring that the value generated remains within the country,” said Mario Rossi, Swisscom’s CFO.
