ISS to support the Danish defense department with integrated facilities services

by Shane Henson — October 21, 2013—ISS, a global provider of facilities services, recently entered into a strategic four-year partnership with Defence Command Denmark to deliver an integrated facilities services (IFS) solution for the Danish Defence in Western Denmark.

According to ISS, the agreement covers cleaning, canteens, property services, and operations-related tasks at the Danish Defence’s more than 400 establishments west of the Great Belt. ISS says in early 2014, the approximately 600 employees currently performing facilities management tasks for the Danish Defence will be transferred from the government entity to ISS.

“We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues in ISS. We are pleased with the confidence the Danish Defence shows ISS in entering into this agreement,” commented Martin Gaarn Thomsen, country manager of ISS in Denmark. “This agreement with an integrated solution is an example of responsible and holistic public sector outsourcing.”

According to ISS, the agreement is one of the largest of its kind in Denmark. A significant number of ISS employees are already engaged with the preparatory work to ensure a smooth transition of the many tasks and employees, ISS adds.

ISS is also a supplier to the defense departments in several other countries, including the U.K. and the Netherlands.
