by Shane Henson — January 20, 2012—ISS Facility Services Healthcare (ISS), a global provider of environmental services to the healthcare industry, was recently awarded a contract to provide soft facilities management services to the Institute of Cancer Research and three London Trusts under the U.K.’s National Health Service that comprise the Fulham Road Collaborative. According to ISS, the contract is worth £100 million over the initial five years.

In an effort to achieve cost efficiency targets, the research center and London Trusts—Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, and Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust—worked together on a competitive tender process for the new contract.

“This project is a great example of how healthcare organizations can work together to make the best use of resources while maintaining excellent standards of care for patients,” commented David Probert, chief operating officer for The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

Per the contract, more than 700 ISS staff will deliver a wide range of soft FM services, including cleaning, catering, security, reception, waste management, pest control, laundry and linen, portering and car park management. However, the specific services provided by ISS will differ in each organization within the collaborative.
