by Brianna Crandall — December 4, 2020 — Worldwide cleaning industry association ISSA announced the winners of its 2020 Innovation of the Year Awards for new cleaning products and services during the closing ceremony of it recent ISSA Show North America — Virtual Experience, broadcasted to attendees and exhibitors from around the world.
According to ISSA, the Innovation Awards Program serves as the primary accelerator platform for cleaning products and services from pioneers in the commercial, institutional, and residential cleaning industry. Every year, companies participating in ISSA Show North America — and Virtual Experience — take the stage to unveil their most innovative products or services in front of the global cleaning industry. These progressive solutions address key challenges industry professionals are trying to solve in their daily operations.
Now in its 11th year, the 2020 edition of the Innovation Program featured 18 groundbreaking products and service solutions from all areas of the industries. Entries are new products and services from top manufacturers and suppliers throughout the cleaning industry organized into five categories: Cleaning Agents; Dispensers; Equipment; Services and Technology; and Supplies and Accessories.

Voting for the 2020 Innovation Awards Program took place online from September 1 to November 18, allowing the worldwide cleaning industry to cast their vote virtually from anywhere. The criteria taken into consideration included: Impact, Practicality, Sustainability, Profitability and Originality.
Innovation of the Year Award Winner
Following the online voting, the 2020 Innovation of the Year Award Winner, TASKI IntelliSpray for swingo by Diversey, was honored on November 19 during the closing ceremony. The session wrapped up the week-long Virtual Experience with the award announcement, closing remarks and entertainment by Electric Avenue.
Honorable Mentions
Honorable mentions were also recognized during the closing ceremony and included:
- Dispensers: HyTech Ocean by Sofidel Group
- Cleaning Agents: Botanical Disinfectants (Kitchen, Bathroom and Wipes) by Seventh Generation Professional, a Unilever Brand
Innovation Category Award Winners
The five category award winners were announced November 16 during the Virtual Experience Kickoff and Welcome Session. Cleaning industry professionals voted online to determine the winners:
- Cleaning Agents: Botanical Disinfectants by Seventh Generation Professional, a Unilever Brand
- Dispensers: Tork PeakServe Recessed Cabinet Adapters by Tork, an Essity brand
- Equipment: TASKI IntelliSpray for swingo by Diversey
- Services and Technology: Silver Defender Antimicrobial Protected Films
- Supplies and Accessories: OmniClean by Unger Enterprises LLC
