J+J/Invision launches Light modular carpets, with varying shades and textures

by Rebecca Walker — October 22, 2010—J+J/Invision’s newest collection, Light, radiates with two modular carpets inspired by the manner in which an object captures and reflects light. The two carpets, Aura and Diffusion, are soft, textured products that use the variation of colors in the yarn and a mixture of textures to create the effects of reflectivity, shimmer, and iridescence through both pattern and color.

Diffusion is the smaller-scale pattern, which provides a complementary sister product to the larger-scale Aura. Both patterns are modular and are designed to achieve a constantly changing appearance from tile to tile.

Light’s patterns play with areas of varying density, contrasting tighter and more defined sections of the design against sections that are looser and more open. Both patterns have been designed to slightly change in appearance based on the light it reflects and the angle in which it is viewed.

This collection was the result of an extensive partnership between two esteemed London-based interior designers, Jennie So and Mark Von Der Heide, who worked extensively with J+J/Invision’s Senior Product Designer, Heather McLean.

Light features nine colorways ranging from light neutrals to captivating shadowy darks – each selected to appeal internationally.

Both Aura and Diffusion are manufactured using 100 percent Encore SD Ultima solution dyed nylon. They feature J+J/Invision’s PVC-free backing, eKo, a modular backing that includes recycled content, provides closed-loop recyclability and is NSF 140-2007 Platinum Certified.
