by Brianna Crandall — June 8, 2015—Adding to the comprehensive scope of energy services it provides owners and operators of real estate, global commercial real estate services firm JLL (Jones Lang LaSalle) has signed a letter of intent to acquire CoR Advisors, a smart building consulting and solutions business. JLL says the acquisition reinforces the company’s commitment to provide its clients the highest level of comprehensive energy management and sustainability services by deepening its capabilities to deliver smart building integration systems.
Founded in 2009 by Darlene Pope, CoR Advisors specializes in transforming buildings into energy-efficient, high-performance facilities. Through a strategic approach of education, consulting and solutions, CoR Advisors is recognized as a thought leader in energy efficiency, with a network of thousands of subscribers and followers. Darlene Pope joined JLL on June 1 and the acquisition is expected to close this month.
Pope will serve as senior director for JLL’s Energy and Sustainability Services in the United States. She has 25 years of experience in commercial real estate, technology and smart building solutions, along with a passion for making a positive impact on building operations and management. Before founding CoR Advisors, Pope was a Managing Partner at Realcomm, and is an active member of several industry groups.
Pope founded and heads the annual Building Energy Summit, a national forum to educate building owners and operators on energy efficient technologies and solutions. She is a nationally recognized author and speaker on intelligent buildings, energy management, green buildings, sustainability, in-building wireless solutions and other real estate technologies.
Pope commented, “Combining our energy efficiency advisory and education services with JLL’s broader platform will create a powerful, progressive and differentiated suite of fully integrated energy management and smart building services.”
CoR Advisors’ expertise in smart building integrations systems will complement and augment JLL’s growing focus on high-performance building technology solutions, including IntelliCommand, JLL’s smart building system now used in more than 120 buildings, representing approximately 30 million square feet.
