JLG to offer protection system as standard on boom lifts

by Brianna Crandall — May 16, 2016 — JLG Industries, an Oshkosh Corporation company and a global manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telescopic material handlers, recently announced that it is leading the way by making its SkyGuard enhanced control panel protection system standard across the JLG portfolio of boom lifts, included in the price of the machine.

When activated, the “revolutionary” SkyGuard protection system stops all functions in use at the time, then temporarily reverses most functions that were in use when the system was activated.

With the issue of operator safety said to be the number one priority for JLG and the driver behind many of its product innovations, the company will begin equipping its boom lifts with the SkyGuard system as standard equipment on the portfolio of JLG Boom Lifts ordered in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand beginning in July 2016. The SkyGuard system will become standard equipment in the rest of the world in January 2017.

When activated, the “revolutionary” SkyGuard protection system stops all functions in use at the time, then temporarily reverses most functions that were in use when the system was activated. This reverse functionality is the only feature of its kind in the market, claims JLG.

JLG offers a full line of aerial work platforms, telehandlers, stock pickers, mast booms, trailers and equipment accessories to meet the needs of the landscaping, commercial and retail, sports and entertainment, construction, industrial, warehousing and distribution, and other industries for access equipment for a wide variety of applications.
