Johns Manville introduces JM open-cell spray foam insulation

by AF 002 e3 — June 4, 2010—Johns Manville (JM), a Berkshire Hathaway company and global building products manufacturer, has introduced JM ocSPF insulation, a low-density polyurethane open-cell spray foam insulation designed for commercial and residential applications.

Recommended for walls, floors, unvented and vented attics and ceilings, JM ocSPF insulation will insulate cavities of any shape, creating a “seamless” protective air barrier that minimizes or eliminates air leakage for maximum building envelope performance, according to the company.

JM ocSPF insulation is mold and mildew resistant, minimizes sound transmission and provides an R-value of 3.8 at one inch, R-13 at 3.5 inches and R-19 at 5.5 inches. It is considered an air impermeable insulation at a thickness of 3.5 inches. JM ocSPF insulation can be applied at up to 6 inches per pass and, when properly installed, the product expands 120 times its initial volume, sealing all voids, gaps and crevices.
