Featuring sustainable construction and state-of-the-art building technologies, the Johnson Controls corporate campus is intended to serve as a symbol of the company’s commitment to a strong industry leadership presence in China—one of its major growth markets—and the Asia Pacific region.

The design and construction of the new campus are expected to achieve China’s Three Star Green and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED Platinum building certifications to become a landmark for China and the Asia region. To make this possible, Johnson Controls will employ multiple integrated building technology solutions that will reduce the building’s water and energy use. Regionally manufactured materials will be used for this project, and special attention will be paid to indoor and outdoor environments. Altogether, this is expected to result in a 48 percent reduction in the building’s energy consumption over traditional building designs per year.

Johnson Controls’ new campus, conveniently located in the Changning District, is expected to be completed by late 2016. The 35,000 square meter campus will allow the company to relocate 1,200 employees and provides space for future growth.

Johnson Controls is classed as a “Top Employer” in China, with a strong people-oriented philosophy. To attract and retain the best talent, the world-class workspace will be equipped with multifunction event areas and flexible office environments to achieve higher operational efficiencies, comfort level, innovation and collaboration. The company also has plans to develop convenient facilities including a fitness center, green terrace with river views, and charging stations for employees’ hybrid and electric vehicles. This building is designed and will be built as a showcase environment that reflects the company’s smart building capabilities while also benefiting employees’ health, safety and productivity.

Johnson Controls is a global diversified technology and industrial leader serving customers in more than 150 countries. Its 168,000 employees create quality products, services and solutions to optimize energy and operational efficiencies of buildings as well as vehicles. The company says its commitment to sustainability dates back to 1885, with the invention of the first electric room thermostat.
