March 31, 2003—The Controls Group of Johnson Controls and SKF, a provider of roller bearing technology, has formalized a 12-year relationship through a new alliance dedicated to sharing services and resources globally. With the alliance, the companies will extend the focus of their advanced services to companies around the world. These advanced services are designed to support preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, helping to extend equipment life, provide operational and energy savings, and improve productivity.
Mechanical services offered by Johnson Controls incorporate predictive maintenance services, including vibration analysis as a core technology. Johnson Controls will use SK’s Microlog line of portable data collectors/analyzers, MS Windows-based Machine Analyst software with the Oracle database management system and other equipment for the analysis of motors, fans, and other equipment essential to a well-functioning facility.
SKF and Johnson Controls will also share personnel resources, products and support services as appropriate in key markets to enhance local capabilities and market preference.
