by Shane Henson — October 4, 2013—Johnson Controls, a global provider of building technology and services, recently announced that its P2000 security management system has been updated to offer customers even more options in their efforts to protect their people, property and assets.
The P2000 system integrates technologies such as video surveillance, fire alarms, and building management systems to provide customers with a single view of their building’s security and operational performance.
According to Johnson Controls, the upgraded P2000 enhances information technology to improve real-time system performance, reliability, and system administration. A new archive support server stores data for up to 30 years and generates scheduled reports. Administrators can now manage, authenticate, and authorize access to P2000 data through Lightweight Directory Access Protocol and Active Directory, the industry standards for distributing critical information over Internet protocol (IP) directory services. In addition, the system is now compatible with Authentic Mercury access control hardware from Mercury Security Corporation, a global provider of open platform access products, says Johnson Controls.
Public and private organizations worldwide use Johnson Controls Technology Contracting to create connected environments where business, building, and specialty systems, including the P2000 and other security and fire technologies communicate. For example, says Johnson Controls, hospitals can use radio frequency identification (RFID) tabs to track medical equipment. Schools and businesses can link their lighting and heating, air conditioning, and ventilation (HVAC) systems to access control data to lower their utility costs in empty spaces.
