by Rebecca Walker — March 4, 2011—Keil Refrigeration Hardware, a brand of Component Hardware Group, Inc., has introduced lighting for walk-in cooler operations that meets the requirements of the Energy Independence & Security Act of 2007.

The VXS-CFL series Surface Mount Compact Fluorescent Refrigeration Lighting Fixture is designed to provide ample light output while conserving energy and decreasing operational costs, says the company.

This Keil lighting series, along with others, may be eligible for LEED Energy Credits, which can help facilities earn Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for green building projects.

The energy efficient spiral compact fluorescent lamp of the VXS-CFL Series draws 120V/26 watts, saving up to 75 percent energy compared to standard 100W incandescent fixtures while providing light output of 1650 lumens, which is more than 60 lumens per watt. In addition, the CFL lamps can provide up to 10,000 hours of operation, 10 times longer than standard incandescent bulbs, which translates into fewer maintenance calls and lower replacement costs, notes the company.
