Landscape Forms introduces illuminated bike rack and sign wayfinding elements

by Brianna Crandall — June 4, 2014—High-design site furniture manufacturer Landscape Forms is entering the wayfinding product category with the introduction of two new products with embedded illumination: the Reeder Illuminated Bike Rack and Reeder Illuminated Sign. Landscape Forms notes that elements its new wayfinding portfolio are designed to guide, direct and signal people through space while providing product-specific functions, from graphic identity and directions, to delineating pathways and social spaces, to creating places to park a bike.

According to the company, the embedded illumination in the new Reeder wayfinding products is a feature that will be carried forward in future additions to the category. The embedded light-emitting diode (LED) lights respond to the growing appreciation of lighting integrated with furniture and buildings that is subtle and diffused.

“We have identified an interest among architects and designers in site elements that are not necessarily lighting products but include lighting along with their primary functions,” explains Landscape Forms president Richard Heriford. “The illuminated bike rack and sign by Rick Reeder are utilitarian products and beautiful sculptural forms in which embedded light creates a visual experience.”

The Reeder Illuminated Bike Rack and Reeder Illuminated Sign are minimal and architectural in form, refined and sophisticated in presence, says the company, bringing subtle illumination to settings in ways that are less conventional than what is currently available.

The Reeder Illuminated Bike Rack with an optional LED downlight mounted under the top is designed to serve multiple functions: as a bike rack pure and simple; as both bike rack and wayfinder; and as sculptural wayfinding in its own right.

The Reeder Illuminated Sign is angular in shape and slim in profile, with LED uplighting embedded in the base. The glass panel set into the base can be custom etched with messaging provided by the user. Cast and extruded aluminum elements are Pangard ll powdercoat finished with all standard color palette options.
