by Shane Henson — December 30, 2011—Facilities managers and construction managers needing effective lighting solutions for large-scale industrial projects, work sites, and events may benefit from a new light boom offered through Larson Electronics’ Magnalight.com.
Designed for heavy-duty use and easily deployed, the LM-16-4x1000W extendable light tower allows operators to conveniently illuminate large areas with 4,000 watts of metal halide lighting.
Extendable to a total of 18 feet 5 inches in height including the light fixtures, this light tower produces a wide flood of bright white light with the good color rendering and high intensity associated with quality metal halide light fixtures, say Larson Electronics’ designers. The tower is easily deployed via two 1,000-pound hand winches: one that raises the tower into position, and another that allows operators to then extend the tower to its full 18-foot height. The boom on this tower can be adjusted anywhere from 10 feet to 18 feet in height and can be lowered and locked into a horizontal position to allow safe transport or stowage.
The tower is constructed with demanding conditions in mind, utilizing heavy square steel tubing and a 12-inch square, 1/2-inch thick mounting base-plate for secure installation on trailers or permanent mounting platforms. Included with the tower are four wet-area-suitable 1,000-watt metal halide fixtures, producing a total of approximately 400,000 lumens.
Each lamp is 19 inches in diameter and constructed of aluminum with a tempered glass protective lens for durability. The lamps are secured to a 24-inch wide and 1/4-inch thick mounting plate on the end of the boom, which provides a secure and stable platform for mounting. These are versatile units that can be installed on trailers or other mobile platforms as well as permanently mounted in fixed locations as full-time exterior illumination, Larson Electronics’ designers assert.
