by Shane Henson — February 20, 2013—The Crown Casino and Entertainment Complex recently contracted contemporary glass art manufacturer LASVIT to install glass installations throughout numerous public spaces at the expansive luxury property in Melbourne, Australia.
According to the Czech Republic-based company, its Crystal Wall dominates the facility’s Atrium Bar and is made up of dazzling crystal components in different shapes and sizes that are clipped-in to a metal structure. The installation displays the beauty of glass while being a flexible design solution.
Meanwhile, hand-blown bird wings in a mix of turquoise and amber designed by LASVIT’s Jana Ruzickova make up the glass installation that adorns the reception area of the Crown Towers Spa.
Casino visitors may also not want to miss seeing The Leaves and The Jellyfish. These glass installations are featured in the Presidential Villa of the Crown Towers and are composed of crystal-clear transparent forms that evoke a sense of grace and calm.
LASVIT also graced the casino with Sparkling Twill, a glass installation featured in the Lumina area’s bar, composed of handcrafted and sparkling crystal beads that resemble clouds shifting in the air or puffs of smoke changing shapes. The installation was designed by LASVIT’s Tana Dvorakova.
Crown Casino and Entertainment Complex is the largest casino complex in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the largest in the world, notes LASVIT. It is located in the entertainment district on the south bank of the Yarra River in Melbourne. The impressive Crown Entertainment complex is a gathering of shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, accommodation courts, specialty shops, cinemas, live shows, music venues and a casino. A Four Seasons light show takes place at night in the five-story atrium.
