LED lighting from Lighting Science group cuts heat and energy costs at House of Blues

by Rebecca Walker — June 2, 2010—The House of Blues Recording Studio in Nashville, Tennessee, just became cooler and more efficient with the installation of LED lighting by Lighting Science Group. The studio replaced its traditional light bulbs with Lighting Science Group’s new Definity LED bulbs that are 80 percent more efficient and give off 80 percent less heat, according to the company.

Unlike compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), the Definity LED bulbs contain no mercury. They are completely recyclable, offer outstanding light quality, and will last close to nine years based on normal business operation of 16 hours a day, 365 days a year. To ensure performance and reliability, the DEFINITY LED line was tested under the rigorous LM-79 process by an independent laboratory approved by the U.S. Department of Energy’s CALiPER program. Those test results show that the bulbs outperform competing products on the market.

The DEFINITY line of LED light bulbs are being offered through lighting distributors and directly by Lighting Science Group with a starting suggested retail price of $20.

Owned by Tennessee native Gary Belz, House of Blues Nashville is a member of the Kiva family of recording studios, an award-winning group with locations in Nashville, Memphis and Los Angeles. For more information, see the Web site.
