by Brianna Crandall — November 16, 2016 — The advanced Crest modulating-condensing boiler is now available with inputs up to 6 million BTU/hr. The new Crest 6.0 model will enable engineers, contractors and building owners to utilize Lochinvar’s patented Wave fire-tube design in their largest commercial applications for energy-saving performance.
“We are excited about this new addition to our high-performance Crest line in response to today’s rigorous building standards in both new construction and retrofits,” said Mike Lahti, vice president of Sales, Marketing and Business Development at Lochinvar. “Crest 6.0 has been engineered specifically to meet industry demand for ease-of-use, cost savings and optimal efficiency in commercial boiler systems.”
Crest’s easy-to-use SMART TOUCH operating system with CON-X-US remote connectivity features an eight-inch touchscreen and multi-color interface. Its built-in cascading component provides total command without external controls or complex control logic programming. Cascade redundancy provides peace of mind by helping to ensure a multi-boiler system will always deliver reliable performance without downtime, says Lochinvar.
The SMART TOUCH operating system can also be integrated directly into a building management system (BMS) through BACnet, ModBus and other communication protocols using a gateway device. With CON-X-US remote connectivity, the Crest modulating-condensing boiler can be monitored from anywhere, even without a BMS.
With options for installation with primary/secondary piping or in a full-flow arrangement, Crest can operate at flow rates as low as 20 GPM up to a full 550 GPM. Additionally, the system offers a wide variety of horizontal and vertical venting options. Six unique venting options allow Crest to provide exceptional flexibility for placement of units within the building as it permits direct-vent air intake and exhaust runs up to 100 equivalent feet.
