by Shane Henson — June 22, 2011—Architectural aluminum products from Alcoa’s Kawneer UK business will be used on the Halo Tower in London, the company recently announced. Alcoa officials say when finished, Halo Tower will be one of the tallest residential buildings in London, offering panoramic views of the City and Olympic Park.

Kawneer’s AA201 unitized curtain walling is currently being installed on the fourth to the 43rd floor of the Halo Tower, and Kawneer’s traditional AA110 curtain walling will be featured on the ground to third floor levels.

“Kawneer’s AA201 curtain walling is ideal for fast-paced construction projects like Halo Tower,” said Sean Butler, sales and marketing director for Kawneer UK. “Architects like the AA201 system because it can be installed efficiently and no scaffolding is needed. It is easy to fabricate and provides superior performance and design flexibility.”

Halo Tower is one of six new residential buildings—with more than 700 one- to four-bedroom apartments and penthouses—being constructed as part of a redevelopment project of a former light industrial site located outside the Olympic Park. When completed, the highly visible, 43-story Halo Tower will act as a gateway to the Olympic Games, scheduled for 2012 in London’s Olympic Park.
