by Shane Henson — October 24, 2012—Diversey, a division of Sealed Air and provider of commercial cleaning, sanitation and hygiene solutions worldwide, recently awarded Marsden Building Maintenance its Sustainability Innovation Award at the 19th Congress of the World Federation of Building Service Contractors in Curitiba, Brazil.
Marsden Building Maintenance is a facilities services provider of commercial janitorial, building maintenance and specialty property services with operations serving customers throughout the central corridor of the United States. Diversey recognized the Minneapolis-based company for its innovative composting program. By diverting organic materials from the waste stream, the program reduces landfill waste, which can result in the production of methane gas, a source of global warming. It also diverts materials from the incinerator to reduce air pollution, says Diversey.
Diversey developed the Sustainability Innovation Award to encourage and promote green cleaning practices and sustainable innovation among building service contractors (BSCs). The award honors BSCs that demonstrate a commitment to sustainable business practices with an emphasis on innovation and measurable results, the company says. OCS Group and Verzani & Sandrini were named finalists.
