Matrix Systems introduces browser-based access control for small-to-medium-sized businesses

by Shane Henson — March 30, 2012—Matrix Systems, a provider of access control and security management solutions, recently launched Frontier Web Essentials Pro, which the company bills as the next generation of affordable out-of-the-box, Web-based access control.

According to the company, the product was developed for Matrix Systems’ growing network of value-added resellers (VARs), and requires no software installation, upgrades or licensing. It uses a native browser-based user interface and was designed for use with Mercury hardware, with support for HID’s VertX access control hardware forthcoming, and will replace its forerunner, Frontier Web Essentials, as Matrix’s premier access control offering for small and mid-sized businesses.

Frontier Web Essentials Pro integrates with Mercury hardware for management of up to 32 doors and 250,000 credentials. A simple Web interface enables real-time monitoring, credential management, and live or recorded video along with system configuration.

Web Essentials Pro creates secure host connections via Ethernet across LAN (local area network) or WAN (wide area network), with direct connection to access control sub-controller door modules via a RS-485 bus. Operators can choose to be notified of alarms via SMS (short message service, or text), e-mail, and/or relay sounders, while physical tampering is prevented with USB (Universal Serial Bus, or flash drive) Webcam and motion-triggering support, says Matrix Systems.
