by Shane Henson — July 27, 2012—MaxLite, a manufacturer of LED luminaires, has introduced an LED Linear F32T8 Replacement Lamp for retrofit applications currently using four-foot fluorescent tubes.
According to the company, the product consumes just 20 watts while powered by a one- or two-lamp per driver configuration, helping to meet facilities managers’ lighting needs in an energy-efficient way. MaxLite’s LED also has an L70 life of 50,000 hours, or more than 17 years operating eight hours a day.
The LED T8 Lamp also is better than a florescent in another way, says MaxLite.
“While fluorescents can buzz and flicker and contribute to headaches and eye fatigue, our new LED Linear T8 lamp is constructed with high-quality LEDs and a translucent diffuser that enable a silent, smooth operation,” explained Pat Treadway, MaxLite’s director of product marketing.”
The non-dimmable LED T8 Lamp is offered in a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 4100K with an output of 1550 lumens. The back of the housing is an aluminum heat sink that promotes the transfer of heat from the LED chips, which ensures cool operating temperatures and extended lumen maintenance.
Ensuring a simple retrofitting process, the LED T8 Lamp features standard G13 pins that fit into most common fluorescent fixtures easily and conveniently without removing an existing starter. The lamp features instant start technology and a simple ballast bypass without radio frequency interference.
With a power factor of more than 98%, the lamp operates on electrical systems ranging from 120 to 277 volts. Further demonstrating MaxLite’s commitment to quality, the LED T8 lamp driver is FCC- and cUL-listed, RoHS-compliant, and constructed without hazardous materials. An acrylic diffuser provides an even distribution of light while minimizing breakage compared to fluorescent glass tubes.
