by Shane Henson — July 15, 2011—The Southeast Division of McCarthy Building Companies announces their selection as construction manager by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, for the Winn Army Hospital renovation project in Fort Stewart, Georgia.
Construction on the $23 million fixed-price contract is slated to start July 2011, adding to the firms regional federal project portfolio that also includes the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The Winn Army Hospital serves soldiers and their family members, veterans and retirees.
Designed by architecture firm Leo A Daly, the project includes a 65,000-square-foot addition and a 1,000-square-foot renovation to the existing hospital. The project, currently LEED registered under the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design green certification program, is anticipated to pursue LEED Silver certification. The facility will boast a number of eco-friendly design elements.
Estimated completion date of the project is December 2012.
