by Brianna Crandall — March 28, 2014—The three U.K. facilities services organizations that recently announced their merger have now announced the combined organization’s new name. Asset Skills, the Cleaning and Support Services Association (CSSA), and the Facilities Management Association (FMA) will now be known as The Building Futures Group.
The Building Futures Group is said to be the only representative organization for the housing, property, planning, cleaning, parking and facilities management sectors. The new name was chosen to reflect the organization’s commitment to developing individuals working within the industry, as well as safeguarding the buildings where people live, work and play, now and for the future.
Sarah Bentley, recently announced as chief executive of the new group, commented, “The rationale for the merger was that the industry lacked a consolidated, unified voice. The Building Futures Group will coordinate the sector’s voice and provide a platform that has been so sadly missing. We are fully committed to raising the profile of the industry and transforming the sector.”
Steve Davies, chairman of The Building Futures Group, stated, “I am very pleased to announce Sarah as our Chief Executive. I know that she will successfully lead the organization through this exciting new phase as we take our place as a leader in the sector. We wanted to ensure that our name was representative of the industries we work with. At the heart of the organization is our commitment to engaging with young people, opening up the industry to new talent and helping them to build exciting careers. The Building Futures Group brand and logo encapsulate this vision.”
The Building Futures Group is a trade association, membership body and training organization that educates, represents and supports service providers, service users and end users, as well as individuals and employers operating within the housing, property, planning, cleaning, parking and FM sectors. The organization’s goal is to support member companies in their pursuit of ever-increasing standards of service and value on behalf of their clients, and to assist them in improving their trading positions through innovation and thought leadership.
