Milliken intros high-performance flooring, entry solutions

by Brianna Crandall — October 21, 2015—In conjunction with its 150th anniversary, U.S.-based flooring solutions provider Milliken showcased new flooring products and a white paper at the IFMA World Workplace Conference and Expo 2015. The company says the new luxury vinyl tile, entry constructions, and Naturally Drawn modular carpet demonstrate the versatility and durability of Milliken products. The white paper and products are highlighted below.

Recognizing that facilities managers are challenged to meet myriad requirements with flooring, from aesthetic to functionality and performance, all while maintaining their budget, Milliken has published a white paper: “How to Choose Carpet Tiles That Last” was written to help FMs better protect their investment in flooring.

Milliken Luxury Vinyl Tile

LVT Stone Charlotte

A 28-millimeter wear layer on this LVT Stone Charlotte provides durable performance, and a silica-bead-reinforced polyurethane yields a scratch-resistant finish, eliminating the need for waxes and sealants.

Milliken high-performance Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) collections offer low maintenance, durability and environmental qualities:

  • A 28-millimeter wear layer provides unsurpassed performance, and a silica-bead-reinforced polyurethane yields a scratch-resistant finish, eliminating the need for waxes and sealants.
  • Milliken LVT flooring carries an Environmental Product Declaration and Declare transparency label and is FloorScore certified, meeting strict indoor air quality (IAQ) and volatile organic compounds (VOC) criteria.

Curated to coordinate with Milliken’s easy-to-search Color Reference System, FMs can select Milliken LVT options with modular and broadloom carpets for a seamless aesthetic as spaces flow between soft- and hard-flooring surfaces.

In addition to the LVT’s durability and environmental qualities, Milliken says the collections provide endless design possibilities. Milliken LVT is available in 109 SKUS with wood, stone, and abstract designs in six different sizes.

Arx and Quadrus OBEX entry solutions

According to the Worldwide Cleaning Association, 70 to 90 percent of soil that enters a facility is walked in through the front door. Without entryway systems, this can total as much as 24 pounds from only 1,000 people – going from inviting to disastrous in a short period of time.

The Arx collection is composed of three products, Prior, Tergo, and Forma 2.0, which each serve particular roles to prevent dirt, dust, and moisture from being tracked into a building within the first 10 to 30 feet of its entrance. Specially designed for entryway zones 1 and 2, the collection features ultra-durable interlocking tile systems optimized to protect high-traffic areas.

Arx products are engineered for use in conjunction with one another. For example, pairing Forma 2.0 and Tergo in the same installation increases dry dirt pickup by 50 percent, says the company.

  • Prior is engineered for Zone 1, which is the outdoor area adjacent to a building’s entry and exit doors. It is replete with scrapers that remove particulate dirt from shoes as people move into and out of buildings.
  • Tergo is appropriate for both entryway Zones 1 and 2, which comprise the primary inside area adjacent to building entry and exit doors. Tergo tiles utilize heavy-duty textile inserts composed of 100% nylon monofilament, designed to provide a superior brushing action.
  • Forma 2.0 is optimized for Zone 2 entryways, featuring dual-scraping technologies and available in eight colors, which coordinate with Quadrus OBEX walk-off carpet tile.
Quadrus OBEX
Quadrush Brush entryway system

Quadrus Brush provides more aggressive scraping effects for Zone 2 entryway applications when architectural environments do not allow for grid systems.

Engineered for Zone 3 indoor entryway applications where moisture absorption is critical to protect against elements that pose safety hazards, Quadrus entry tiles combine heavy-duty textile construction with ComfortPlus cushion backing.

Dual-fiber Milliken WearOn nylon yarn and an open textile construction trap dirt and moisture, while allowing easy removal during maintenance. The modular format enhances installation flexibility and ease of maintenance, as individual tiles can be lifted for cleaning or replacement, points out Milliken.

Two products – Quadrus and Quadrus Brush – provide various levels of performance and scraping effects for the ideal balance of design and function. Quadrus Brush, the most aggressive construction, can also be installed in Zone 2 entryway applications when architectural environments do not allow for grid systems.

Other features and benefits of Quadrus include:

  • Flexible, easy- to-cut constructions to fit any shape within a building, from revolving doors to hexagonal or semi-circular areas
  • Available in two patterns and eight colors, which coordinate with OBEX Prior and Forma grids for entryway Zones 1 and 2
  • Custom patterns and colors to achieve desired interior aesthetics
  • Ideal for active circulation areas to avoid premature wear of other flooring and areas with specific needs, such as anti-fatigue and wet conditions
