by Brianna Crandall — April 20, 2012—MIPIM, the international show for real estate professionals, has announced the 2012 MIPIM Awards for outstanding real estate projects across the globe. The MIPIM show in Cannes, France, in March attracted over 19,400 participants and more than 4,100 real estate investors for four days of intensive real estate business, networking events, and presentation of new industry developments.
According to show producers, the 2012 awards feature an “impressive” mix of “innovative, ambitious and exciting” real estate projects from around the world competing in eight categories, four of which were new and focused on some of the industry’s high-potential sectors: Best Industrial and Logistics Development, Best Refurbished Building, Best Shopping Centre, and Best Futura Mega Project.
New for 2012 was the People’s Choice Award, a pre-MIPIM online vote on Facebook letting participants pick their favorite project from MIPIM’s list of finalists. More than 3,500 people voted for the People’s Choice Award, making the D-Cube City project from South Korea the favorite project of Internet users.

- Best Shopping Centre: Morocco Mall, Casablanca, Morocco; Architect and Lead Consultant: Design International; Developer: Al Amine
