by Shane Henson — August 15, 2012—MITIE, a U.K.-based company that provides facilities, property and asset management for some of Britain’s largest public and private sector businesses, recently secured a five-year repair and maintenance contract with the City of London Corporation, which provides local authority services to the Square Mile business district, supports the financial services sector, and runs many other of London’s iconic facilities.
According to MITIE, the contract covers 600 buildings and structures across London sites, including the iconic City of London Guildhall and the Lord Mayor’s Mansion. The contract requires maintenance service delivery to a wide range of operational locations including active markets, the Old Bailey court and traditional office buildings.
The contract also encompasses specialist hard services including fire and security, building management systems (BMS), chillers, combustion, HVAC and water treatment. MITIE says it will be self-delivering the vast majority of these services directly, helping the City of London Corporation to significantly reduce cost and improve service efficiencies.
