by Shane Henson — July 9, 2012—Mitie, a provider of facilities, property and asset management services for some of the largest public and private sector businesses in the U.K., recently won an expanded contract to provide integrated facilities management to the Scottish government and its collaborative partners.
According to Mitie, the competitive five-year contract, which starts October 1, 2012, is expected to be worth £30 million. The contract covers more than 80 buildings across Scotland. Included are specialist scientific facilities in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Perthshire, as well as the Student Awards Agency for Scotland, Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture, Accountant in Bankruptcy, and the Scottish Fire Services College.
Mitie is committing to self-deliver more than 95 percent of the services. These include mechanical and engineering (M&E) maintenance, project delivery, energy management, cleaning, and a range of soft services.
The partnership builds on Mitie’s successful seven-year relationship with the Scottish government, the company noted. It allows the government’s collaborative partners to benefit from economies of scale, and an Integrated FM model will deliver greater efficiencies through a combined approach. Effective energy monitoring and projects will support the government’s commitment to further reducing its carbon footprint.
