by Shane Henson — August 31, 2012—The Mohawk Group, a producer and distributor of quality flooring with product solutions for all markets and all price points, now offers Play of Light, a carpeting solution capable of seamlessly blending diverse spaces together.
Merging small town ideas with big city style, Play of Light features an organic interpretation of geometrics and shadows to illustrate the adaptive nature of light and how it can be reflected, refracted and filtered through a variety of surfaces, says the Mohawk Group. The modular collection reenergizes and unifies its surrounding environment with multiple pile heights to create textures that seamlessly emerge and disappear and nine brilliant colorways ranging from tone neutrals to defined color. Coordinated for synergy, Play of Light’s three luminous patterns, including Filtering Through, Streaming In and Radiating Out, are an ideal fit for the open floor layouts found within today’s corporate environments.
Further extending the nature-centric “rurban” trend, Play of Light is manufactured with environmentally friendly SmartStrand Contract with DuPont Sorona (SmartStrand), a fully recyclable and rapidly renewable bio-based flooring solution made with 37% renewably sourced polymer.
Requiring 30% less energy to manufacture than nylon, SmartStrand offers long-lasting durability, built-in stain resistance and vibrant color retention even in the harshest commercial settings, allowing Play of Light to stay in use and out of the waste stream longer. Just as impressive, when the collection does reach the end of its long useful life, it can be reclaimed and recycled through Mohawk Group’s ReCover program, which was launched to reduce harmful impact on landfills, says the Mohawk Group.
