by Shane Henson — December 21, 2012—Mortenson Construction, a U.S.-based and family-owned construction company, has released an intuitive project collaboration platform designed to seamlessly connects all aspects of a Mortenson project in real-time.

Dubbed ProjectConnect, the platform gives customers and project teams secure and immediate access to critical project information wherever and whenever it’s needed, resulting in transparency, improved quality and efficiency, and a reduction in the time and cost of construction, says Mortenson Construction.

More than a document management tool, ProjectConnect enables live collaboration among customers and project teams. It is distinct because it was built from the vantage point of Mortenson having witnessed issues with both traditional file-sharing sites and the newest cutting-edge technology. Working with its customers and project teams, Mortenson addressed those critical issues and developed a holistic solution that it says is fully integrated into the company’s building process.

ProjectConnect features mobile, 24/7 access with an easy-to-navigate Web dashboard that streamlines communications and serves as the comprehensive source for project information. It offers custom levels of security and access, and can deliver everything from executive-level project status reports to schedules, designs, 3D models, budgets, specifications, safety plans, and meeting minutes for project teams. It also includes project photos, live Webcams, and weather reports, adds Mortenson Construction.

The Oracle-based platform is part of Mortenson’s advanced integrated project delivery process and has been tested on more than 30 projects to date, the company says. Information is highly secure through multiple levels of user access controls that are customizable to each project. ProjectConnect also features class-leading data security and encryption, and is actively monitored.
