Near and Far Technology by MegaStar automatically manages stored item location

October 1, 2001—Automatically managing the location of stored items for efficient retrieval, Near and Far Technology from MegaStar Systems improves the throughput of the MegaLift Vertical Lift (VLM). The MegaLift VLM is an enclosed system of vertically arranged trays, an ergonomically designed extraction platform, and computerized controls. Using Near and Far Technology, the MegaLift VLM’s on-board tray database automatically cycle counts tray usage and re-optimizes the VLM at the operator’s discretion. Faster moving SKUs are located closer to the access opening, slower moving parts further away. The result, says MegaStar Systems, is improved employee productivity and faster systems throughput—up to 50-75 percent.

Near and Far Technology, standard on the MegaLift VLM, is part of MegaStar Systems’ control system dedicated to improved productivity and space savings in automated storage and retrieval operations. The optional MegaStar Systems FlexiSpace feature, also part of the control system package, automatically tracks the height of the items stored in each tray in the unit and finds the best positioning for each tray to maximize storage space. FlexiSpace is designed to offer the most efficient use of the available cube for higher storage density. For more information, contact MegaStar.
