NEMA publishes guidelines for electrical wiring device replacement

by Brianna Crandall — January 2, 2015—Of interest to facilities and maintenance personnel in multifamily buildings, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) recently published NEMA WD 8-2013 Guidelines for Electrical Wiring Device Replacement.

This guide contains a checklist intended for evaluating the safety of wiring devices and associated electrical equipment installed in residences, by building maintenance and management personnel.

NEMA WD 8-2013 may be downloaded at no cost or purchased in hardcopy for $36 on the NEMA Web site.

NEMA is the association of electrical equipment and medical imaging manufacturers, founded in 1926 and headquartered in Rosslyn, Virginia. Its nearly 400 member companies manufacture a diverse set of products including power transmission and distribution equipment, lighting systems, factory automation and control systems, and medical diagnostic imaging systems.
