by Brianna Crandall — January 12, 2015—The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) recently published NEMA MG 1-2014 Motors and Generators, which assists users in the proper selection and application of motors and generators.
The new standard, available in various formats, contains practical information concerning performance, safety, testing, construction, and manufacture of alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) motors and generators.
Changes in this edition include encompassing small motor premium efficiency values for capacitor-start/induction-run single-phase, capacitor-start/capacitor-run single-phase, and three-phase induction machines; as well as kilowatt (KW) equivalent efficiency ratings.
NEMA MG 1-2014 is available in hard and electronic format on the NEMA Web site for $414. It may also be purchased on a compact disc (CD) or for multiple network users.
