NeoCon ’03: Gold awarded Herman Miller’s Mirra mid-price work chair

June 25, 2003—Herman Miller’s new Mirra work chair has received a Gold Award in the Best of NeoCon 2003 competition. It won in the DeskWorkstation/Task category. A product of more than four years of research and development, it has a host of innovations to the long-neglected mid-market category, according to the major furniture manufacturer. Mirra combines passive and active adjustments to deliver natural performance and long-term comfort for a wide range or body types and postures. Additionally, explains Herman Miller, up to 96 percent of Mirra’s materials can be recycled at the end of the chair’s useful life.

Mirra features the one-piece TriFlex backrest with built-in flex zones, and FlexFront, an adjustable flexing front edge seat that allows the sitter to control seat depth. The geometric shapes in Mirra’s back, and the chair’s suspended mesh seat, provide custom contouring and prevent heat build-up by allowing air to circulate.

The Best of NeoCon awards program, held annually at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago, is sponsored by Contract magazine, The Merchandise Mart, and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA).
