by Ann Withanee — June 25, 2012—For its first-ever venture into the architectural products category, Allsteel Inc. walked away with a prestigious Gold Award in the Best of NeoCon product competition for its Beyond frameless glass movable walls. Beyond was displayed in Allsteel’s permanent showroom at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago, during NeoCon 2012. Facilities managers and designers/specifiers will welcome that Beyond excels in its visual appeal as well as functionality.

Beyond impressed the judges with its breakthrough innovation. Designed in partnership with wall expert Eberhard von Huene, Beyond features a “unique built-in scissor lift leveling mechanism” that levels the glass within the floor channel. It functions much like a pneumatic jack and allows an installation that is far faster and easier than other products currently on the market, notes Allsteel.

What differentiates Beyond from other wall systems, explains Allsteel, is its unitized frameless glass system: it features half-inch-thick glass that is exceptionally soundproof, earning one of the highest STC (Sound Transmission Class) acoustics ratings; and, it is highly structural, allowing for an optional privacy tile system with components that hang directly on the glass.

“2012 is a milestone year for Allsteel, marking its 100th anniversary and a product launch into a new architectural products category,” said Kris Yates, vice president architectural products. “We are beyond thrilled to be able to add Best of NeoCon to our list of achievements to celebrate this year.”
