by Ann Withanee — June 18, 2012—Gunlocke’s newest collection of wood casegoods, Silea Open Office, brings the sophistication and appearance of the private office to the open plan. The full range of wood casegoods in Silea Open Office offers facilities managers and space planners the latitude to extend the upscale line throughout an entire office, starting at the reception and continuing through open-plan stations. For Silea Open Office, Gunlocke received a Gold Award in The Best of NeoCon competition during the 2012 NeoCon contract furnishings event at The Merchandise Mart in Chicago.
Appropriate for higher-end spaces, Silea Open Office was conceived and scaled for open-plan environments. Gunlocke explains that Silea Open Office brings the best of its private office casegoods, substantial construction, the warmth of wood, and an “unsurpassed fit and finish” to the flexible configurations required to meet the changing needs of a more connected, collaborative workplace.
“Even though it is classified as ‘open plan,’ our newest casegood collection offers a level of optimized space, privacy and personal storage usually reserved for private office casegoods,” explains Jason Wolfanger, Gunlocke’s director of product management.
Available in a wide range of materials and configurations, Silea Open Office’s sleek, modern design strips away visual complexities, providing a simple, minimal aesthetic that’s light in scale and hosts numerous visual layers of varying heights within the workspace. Its clean lines are emphasized by horizontal veneer patterns, painted surfaces and other mixed materials, including glass and metal.
In management areas, Silea Open Office components can be configured for various work styles, giving managers greater proximity to their open plan. For team-based settings, Silea Open Office features a smaller individual desk, including a conference table end. In environments where technology enables people to “do more with less desk,” scaled-back touchdown stations can be configured to support social, collaborative work styles, connecting teams and providing places for mobile workers to regroup. Even the collection’s administrative staff stations contain private office elements that lend a custom millwork feel.
“Silea Open Office helps move the Gunlocke brand outside of private offices by taking it into wide, open spaces,” says Wolfanger.
