by Ann Withanee — June 25, 2012—The Luxo 360 LED task light, boasting a small footprint and long reach, was designed for open office environments with lower panels. It received a Gold Award in The Best of NeoCon product competition during the NeoCon contract furnishings show held annually at The Merchandise Mart in Chicago. The Luxo 360 was designed by Stephan Copeland for Luxo, the Norwegian-based lighting manufacturer, and is one of the newest additions to the Herman Miller Thrive Portfolio of health-positive, ergonomic solutions.
Luxo 360 features a height-adjustable spring-balanced arm that keeps the lamp head parallel to the work surface for glare-free illumination. The unique rotating base and head combination allows users to easily move the light a full 360 degrees, for outstanding flexibility and range in a minimal arm configuration.
“There’s a very specific way to deliver light for healthy vision,” said Copeland. “360’s frame keeps a low profile on the desk and welcomes intuitive interaction, but it also gives you full ergonomic adjustability in a non-mechanical, smooth package.”
360 uses four dimmable light-emitting diodes (LEDs) totaling 6.5 watts to provide a light placement of 105 footcandles at 16 inches with a color temperature of 3250 Kelvin. It also incorporates an energy-saving automatic shut-off intelligence which turns the light off after nine hours of use. 360 is available in three color options including black, silver grey and white, and carries a five-year warranty.
Herman Miller’s Thrive Portfolio offers 360 through a unique relationship with Luxo in North America, giving access to the world’s most extensive line of ergonomic and energy-efficient task lights, and the benefit of Luxo’s more than 75 years of globally recognized lighting design and manufacturing.
