by Ann Withanee — June 20, 2012—Herman Miller Inc. showcased its new ergonomic technology solutions at its showroom in The Merchandise Mart, Chicago, during the NeoCon 2012 contract furnishings show in June, continuing its commitment to provide facilities managers and designer/specifiers with health-positive products.

Among Herman Miller’s latest ergonomic solutions in its Thrive Portfolio are new developments to the original Flo Dynamic Monitor Support. Providing fingertip control, the Flo Dynamic Monitor Support lets users move their screen exactly where they want with minimal effort—and maximum precision.

Unlike any other product on the market, explains Wayne Baxter, Herman Miller’s Thrive Portfolio Lead, Flo maneuvers into a low, rear-tilted position that supports all eyes— even those with progressive lenses. Benefits have been expanded to a full range of technical applications. Each unique solution utilizes the same leading-edge, patented geometric spring system to provide an unmatched range of motion with fluid, intuitive monitor adjustments that reduce eyestrain, promote healthy postures, and improve productivity.

The expanded Flo technical applications are:

  • Flo Dual—Uses a single clamp that accommodates two Flo Monitor Supports for two dynamically adjustable monitors
  • Flo Modular—Post-mounted, dual Flo configuration for the ability to easily add dynamically adjustable screens
  • Flo Plus—Supports heavy duty monitors up to 40 pounds using the same patented technology as Flo Monitor Support
  • Flo Plus Dual—Supports two screens on a single arm allowing adjacent screens to maintain their relationship through their entire range of motion
  • Flo Rail Tile Mount—Same patented technology as Flo Monitor Support; Ideal for Canvas Rail Tile Mounts

Each option is built with the same 75% recycled, 99% recyclable materials that earned the original Flo its MBDC (McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry) Cradle-to-Cradle certification.

Also making its NeoCon debut, the Herman Miller Tablet Mount allows tablet devices to attach to most Herman Miller monitor supports, moving mobile technology off the work surface to free up space while supporting a healthy work environment. When combined with the original Flo monitor support it offers the “first truly dynamic tablet mount,” offering the flexibility to choose the vertical, horizontal, and tilt position needed to work more efficiently, reduce strain, and encourage healthy sitting.

The Thrive Portfolio features two additional technology support solutions including a new Laptop Mount that allows laptops to be attached to most Herman Miller monitor supports, and a Keyboard Mechanism with a refined design that reduces the overall thickness to prevent knee-knocking.

All of these technology support solutions work together with proper seating, desking, and lighting to provide choice, and create efficient, health-positive workspaces.
